Life Log: Gene Drive Defense

Gene Drives, once released into nature, override Mendel’s law of inheritance and all of the offspring hold the altered gene. Inspired by the U.S. Agency DARPA call for “Setting a Safe Course for Gene Editing” this scenario proposes three control mechanisms to reduce potential risks and consequences of gene drives. The control mechanisms should detect and track artificial gene drives and molecular events in nature and allow to differentiate between illegally and legally released drives.
